Although she is usually seen as the villain of the piece, in reality I think Anna Franklyn(played by the late Jacqueline Pearce od “Blake’s Seven fame) is arguably as much victim as victimizer(shades of Countess Zaleska in the 1936 vampire drama “Dracula’s Daughter”)Anna evidently abhors both her existence as one of the “Snake People” and seeks release from her curse(note the scene in which she kneels before Malay “manservant” in a mute appeal to be released from her horrendous existence) and deserves more compassion than criticism!
